    The Colors of Fall/Halloween

    Thinking of Fall/Halloween the first color that comes to my mind is orange, but there are so many other amazing colors that can be used to decorate for the season. I decided to play with idea boards and get some inspiration for this years decorations.

    Jewel Tones: Rich reds, deep purples, sapphire blues and emerald greens…all point to gorgeous fall or Halloween decor.

    Purple and Green: While orange and black is traditional there is something so beautiful about the combination of purple and bright green. A personal favorite.

    Pastels: Recently I have become obsessed with spooky, pastel decorations. They are creepy cute and utterly wonderful.

    Blue Halloween: If you are looking for something different blue is it for Halloween.

    Black and White: Anything but boring, decorating with a monochrome palette is dramatic and lovely.

    The Ghost of Halloween Past…

    So, what are your favorite costumes? I was thinking about what I might want to do this year. In the past little bit I have been A Reveur, a black widow spider, so many witches (in a pinch I will default to witch.), Daria, a traveler, steampunk something, a flapper, sexy snow white, a pageant kid/ toddler in a tiara, and probably more but I am blanking. More than likely this year I will witch again, but I might be inspired.

    I was considering going as a member of one of the random gangs from The Warriors. I especially love the ones wearing overalls and roller skates. Very tempting!

    What are your favorite costumes? Do you have a default costume just in case? Are you planning to dress up this year?

  • This is Halloween…Movie Edition.

    Since it is finally October I can begin my Halloween movie watching. I am a huge fan of both cheesy kids Halloween movies and spooky, scary movies. Here in no particular order are some of my favorites:

    This is obviously not exhaustive, but these are the ones I watch every single year. I enjoy horror movies, but I don’t really have a favorite one. I love old horror films, though, especially ones with Vincent Price like the House on Haunted Hill or The Masque of the Red Death.

    Magickal Monday – Witchy Haul!

    Happy 4th of July Eve to my American Friends! To everyone else Happy Magickal Monday!!

    I have done some witchy shopping in the last couple of weeks, so I thought I would share some of my recent purchases.

    From a little shop in Yellow Springs, Ohio called House of Ravenwood I bought a piece of statuary that is a Merlin/Wotan – Odin. The workers and I thought it to be Odin. The box called him Merlin, but to me he is an Odin as the wanderer piece.

    From my friend Seamus’ shop The Magical Druid I picked up a beautiful copper bracelet with pentacles on it. I also picked up a gorgeous piece of peacock ore, and a nice chunk of Black Tourmaline.

    And a new oracle deck called The Halloween Oracle. The imagery on this deck is beautiful. I love Halloween, so this deck is right up my alley.

    I am so excited to continue working with this deck. I think it is quickly going to become a favorite.

    My younger sister has gifted me with a beautiful picture which I am planning to frame to add to my altar space. I have no idea where it is from, or who the artist is, so if you know them please let me know.

    I also made a trip last Thursday to my friend Heather’s shop Violet Flame Gifts in Newark. I was picking up the gorgeous drinking horn she made that was just begging to be owned by my husband. While I was there I found a gorgeous wand that I could not resist. Labradorite and Turquoise are two of my favorite stones. I am thinking of this as my Pisces wand, because of the shells and starfish motifs on it. I am so in love.

    That is all, and enough, lol. Expect to see more of the oracle deck, and of that wand.
